Mosaic T-shirt quilts-Can you use Baby Clothes?

We get this question a lot. The short answer is No. We can use a few baby clothes in a Mosaic style T-shirt quilt but we can not make the whole quilt with baby/toddler clothes. And here is why. We cut every item of clothing into a square or rectangle and then sew them together in a puzzle style. Baby clothes are really small and have very little useable material. We have to cut the design out and then piece it to make it usable. That adds extra seams and extra seams add weight to the t-shirt quilt. It takes…

Check the size before you buy a Traditional T-Shirt Quilt

In the world of T Shirt quilt makers the sizes are all over the place! Browzing the internet I found a queen size traditional t-shirt quilt that measures 65 inches by 86 inches. Sixty five inches wide is a very narrow queen size bed! Those are the measurements of a long Twin size quilt. We usually cut blocks 14 or 15 inches square. We can cut the blocks up to 22 inches if the design is large. If the design is larger than 22 inches we have several options: Send us a replacement shirt. Advise us on what part we can…

Budget Friendly T-shirt Quilts

You asked and we listened! We have had many requests from clients who have a lot of t-shirts and they wanted another option. A 36 shirt quilt gets pretty big after we add fabric between the blocks and then a border. We have had multiple requests for a way to use a lot of shirts but have a smaller quilt. The Budget Friendly t-shirt quilt is the answer! The t-shirts are sewn together without fabric between the shirts. This cuts down on the overall size and also the labor. The backing is a soft flannel. There are several colors to…

Is it safe to mail my t-shirts?

We have received  messages from clients concerned about mailing their shirts.  T shirts hold a lot of memories and cannot be replaced. I understand their concern with all the news of packages being stolen off porches and mail fraud. We suggest you send your shirts USPS Priority mail or UPS 2 day delivery. Both ways can be tracked and arrive quickly. For many years we have used USPS, UPS, and FedEx and  a box has never been lost. The process has become a lot more secure with GPS tracking of packages. We cannot stop theft after packages are delivered but…
